In many companies managers are promoted through the organisation to a certain level, only to find further progress is confined by intangible factors, variously described as 'management style' or 'inter-personal' skills. Sometimes these are recognised by the individual or more often highlighted by colleagues or directors at appraisal time. Personal coaching whereby the individual's personal style, their way of dealing with management issues and their leadership skills are identified and analysed, can often break the paradigm that is preventing the individual achieve full potential.

Jan Harvey has worked with directors and managers from leading international companies to assist with their personal development. One to one sessions, arranged away from the workplace, provide the opportunity for the individual to work with the confidence that all information will be treated with absolute discretion.

Every person will have different issues and problems that he/she wishes to explore. As an example, the following is a possible client profile:

Client A had extensive experience throughout his career in trouble-shooting and restructuring major national companies. After a series of relatively short-term management appointments, he has joined a multi-national company at board level, which demands a longer-term commitment. His ‘downward’ management and leadership skills are irreproachable, but he has found that his peer management was too abrasive and confrontational and has led to misunderstandings amongst his fellow directors. He worked with Jan to develop a style of personal presentation and verbal skills that will create greater empathy with  his colleagues and a stronger understanding of the overall aims and culture of his new company.
